01 Overview

About the
Facility

Associated Surgical Center is a private facility. SurgPrep has been granted access to provide one-on-one surgical training here.

Please treat this environment with the professionalism it deserves at all times. You are a guest — act accordingly.

02 Arrival

Parking

Do not park in the front-row spaces closest to the street — those are reserved for surgeons and staff only.

Additional parking is available throughout the remainder of the lot.

03 Dress Code

What to
Wear

You may arrive in regular street clothes. Scrubs will be provided on-site.

Clothes and accessories should not be worn under scrubs, including undershirts. As lockers may not be available, it is best to leave jewelry at home, although you may keep your phone in your scrub pockets. Additionally, tuck your waistband into your scrub bottoms, and wear provided shoe and hair covers. Long hair should be tied so that it can fit under hair covers.

04 Preparation

What to Know
Before You Arrive

  • Be on time or early. Late arrivals must wait for the next surgical case to begin or until Dr. Kane or Dr. Monarca locates you. You will not enter an OR without being invited.
  • Review scrubbing, gowning, and gloving before your first day. Watch a YouTube video — hands-on instruction will follow, but familiarity helps.
  • Bring a photo ID. A hospital or student ID is acceptable.
  • Lunch is provided daily. Please clean up after yourself.
  • Case assignments are coordinated by Dr. Kane and Dr. Monarca. Not every surgeon accepts students — be patient and professional.
  • Check the following day's schedule each evening. Look up the procedure so you know what to expect going in.
  • Keep documentation on your phone at all times: malpractice insurance and proof of immunizations, including Hepatitis.
  • Log every case you participate in, whether observing or scrubbing. SurgPrep will certify your case log.
05 A Final Note

Professionalism

You are working alongside physicians who have generously opened their OR to you. Treat this as the privilege it is.

Be respectful. Be safe. Represent yourself and SurgPrep well.
