Our unique approach offers opportunities to students with a multitude of backgrounds.

Highschool graduates interested in entering the medical field.
College students of any major.
Surgical technicians and nurses looking to further their skills and education can complete our course, and after sitting for the American Board of Surgical Assistant's’ exam, become licensed as a surgical assistant.
Medical students, both U.S. and foreign will find most interest in our 20 day course which may qualify them to sit for the American Board of Surgical Assistant’s exam. Upon successfully completing the exam they can apply to the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation for a license as a surgical assistant.
All students will experience one-on-one training experience with board certified clinicians and surgeons, seeing patients in our clinic, and scrubbing in on surgical procedures of all type. Once you get the license, the possibilities are endless.

Hands-on experience, made accessible.

All of our courses start with one-on-one cadaver training in the operating room to learn proper suturing technique. No longer are you practicing on substitutes like pig skin, orange peels, or foam; our cadavers are frozen fresh with no formaldehyde (look under the service tab to see an example video of our cadavers).

This first session teaches incisions, dissection techniques, and of course a number of suturing techniques that you will use when you scrub into actual surgical procedures. You will learn to scrub in and assist in many different surgical procedures with board-certified surgeons and a friendly medical support staff.

Darwin Nelson, D.O., SA-C

A Captain in the United States Air Force and medical school graduate ( Touro Medical School, New York City) who decided to pursue his Surgical Assistant’s license. Dr. Nelson desired additional operating room training, and found that with us. After completing SurgPrep, he obtained a surgical assistance license that he is planning on using until he matches for his surgical residency next year. He is now able to work in the operating room while preparing to match for his residency.

A Doctor of Chiropractic Medicine, and Physical Therapist who decided to pursue his Surgical Assistant’s license. Dr. Garavito is one of many chiropractors that are now currently licensed as a surgical assistant in Illinois. Dr. Garavito utilizes his gained expertise to deliver the best care he can possibly provide.

Jesus Morao, M.D., Surgical assitant

Dr. Morao is a foreign medical graduate, a 3rd year general surgical resident, from Venezuela who recent immigrated to the United State. Dr. Morao just recently completed SurgPrep and obtained his surgical assistant license allowing him to works at a local surgical center in Chicago. Dr. Morao is preparing to complete his USMLE exams while enjoying the ability to work in the operating room.

Monica has worked for a large orthopedic surgical group in Chicago and has always desired to be able to work in the operating room as a surgical assistant for her group. After completing SurgPrep and obtaining her surgical assistant’s license, she was promoted at her workplace and is now working shoulder to shoulder with the orthopedic surgeons.

While completing his associates degree at a local community college, John also decided to begin his pursuit towards obtaining a Surgical Assistant’s license. After completing the pathway ahead of him, he went on to attend the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, where he currently studies as an undergraduate student.

A foreign medical graduate and dentist, Volodimir found it hard to find the training neccesary to enter the surgical operating theater and pursue his hopes for a career as a surgical assistant. Through SurgPrep, Volodimir now finds success as a credentialed surgical assistant with privilidges throughout the Chicagoland area.
